In the Roman metro found the home of an ancient commander

During the construction of the new stations of the Rome Metro, the workers discovered a well-preserved house of an ancient commander with mosaics, frescoes and marble floors. The building dates from the 2nd century AD.

The house was found at a depth of 12 meters and included at least 14 rooms. In the courtyard was a fountain. Perhaps the warlord’s house could be adjacent to the barracks of the military, who found earlier.

According to the representative of the archaeological service Francesco Prosperetti, the construction of the metro has turned into an amazing place of archaeological excavations. To continue the construction, the remains of the house will be moved to another place.

Earlier, during the construction of the metro, archaeologists have already found various objects and objects: amphorae, coins, dishes.
