According to many researches, the Egyptian Sphinx hides even more riddles than Great pyramids. Nobody authentically knows when and for what purposes this huge sculpture was constructed.
Disappearing Sphinx
It is considered to be that the Sphinx was erected during a construction of a pyramid of Hefren. However in the ancient papyruses relating to construction of Great pyramids about it there are no references. Moreover, we know that ancient Egyptians meticulously wrote down all expenses connected with a construction of cult constructions, but the economic documents relating to a construction of the Sphinx isn’t found.
In the 5th century BC of a pyramid of Giza Herodotus who in detail described all details of their construction visited. He wrote down “everything that he saw and heard in Egypt”, but about the Sphinx didn’t mention the word.
To Herodotus Egypt visited Gekatya Miletsky, after it – Strabo. Their records are detailed, but about the Sphinx and there are no references. Whether Greeks could not notice a sculpture 20 meters high and 57 meters wide?
The answer to this riddle can be found in work of the Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder “Natural history” who mentions that in his time (the 1st century AD). A sphinx once again cleared of the sands applied from the western part of the desert. And it is valid, the Sphinx regularly “released” from sandy deposits up to the 20th century.
Is more ancient than pyramids
Restoration works which have begun to be carried out in connection with a critical condition of the Sphinx began to suggest scientists an idea that the Sphinx perhaps ancient, than was considered earlier. To check it, the Japanese archeologists headed by professor Sakudzhi Ioshimura by means of the echolocator at first have illuminated pyramid of Cheops, and then in this way investigated a sculpture. Their conclusion has struck – stones of the Sphinx is more ancient, than at a pyramid. It was talked not of age of the breed, and of time of its processing.
After Japanese the team of hydrologists has replaced – their conclusions also became a sensation. On a sculpture they have found signs of the erosion caused by big water flows. The first assumption which has appeared in the press – the riverbed of Nile in the ancient time passed in other place and washed the rock from which a vytesala of the Sphinx.
It is even more courageous than a guess of hydrologists: “The erosion is rather traces not of Neil, and a flood – a mighty spill of water”. Scientists have come to conclusion that water flow went south from the North, and approximate date of accident – 8 thousand years BC.
The British scientists, having repeated hydrological researches of breed of which the Sphinx is made, have removed date of a flood to 12 thousand years BC. It in general will be coordinated with dating of the Flood which, according to most of scientists, has occurred about 8-10 millennium BC.
What is the Sphinx sick with?
The Arab wise men struck with grandeur of the Sphinx told that the giant isn’t subject to time. But for last millennia to a monument fairly got, and, first of all, the person is guilty of it.
At first Mamelukes practised in shooting accuracy on the Sphinx, their initiative was supported by Napoleonic soldiers. One of governors of Egypt ordered to beat off to a sculpture a nose, and British stole a stone beard from the giant and brought to the British museum.
In 1988 from the Sphinx broke away and with a roar the huge boulder fell. It was weighed and terrified – 350 kg. This fact caused the most serious concern of UNESCO. It was decided to assemble a consultation of representatives of the most different specialties to find out the reasons destroying an ancient construction.
In result of comprehensive examination scientists found the hidden and extremely dangerous cracks in the head of the Sphinx, besides established that the external cracks which are closed up by low-quality cement are also dangerous – it creates threat of a bystry erosion. Paws of the Sphinx appeared in not less depressing state.
According to experts, the Sphinx is harmed, first of all, by human activity: exhaust gases of automobile engines and caustic smoke of the Cairo plants get into a time of a statue that gradually destroys it. Scientists say that the Sphinx is seriously sick.
For restoration of an ancient monument hundreds of millions dollars are necessary. There is no such money. For now the Egyptian authorities restore a sculpture by own efforts.
Mysterious person
Among most of Egyptologists there is a strong belief that in appearance of the Sphinx the person of the Pharaoh of the IV dynasty Hefren is imprinted. This confidence nothing can’t be shaken – lack of any certificates on communication of a sculpture and the Pharaoh, the fact that the head of the Sphinx was repeatedly remade.
The famous specialist in monuments of Giza doctor I. Edwards is convinced of what on behalf of Sfinks is looked through by the Pharaoh Hefren. “Though the person Sfinksa is a little mutilated, it still gives us Hefren’s portrait”, – the scientist concludes. It is interesting that Hefren’s body wasn’t found and therefore for comparison of Sfinks and the Pharaoh use statues. First of all it is about the sculpture cut from a black diorite which is stored in the Cairo museum – on it verify Sfinks’s shape.
To confirm or confute identification of the Sphinx with Hefren the group of independent researchers connected to case of the famous New York police officer Frank Domingo who created portraits for an identification of suspects. In several months of work of Domingo concluded: “These two works of art represent two different persons. Frontal proportions – and in particular corners and front ledges in case of the side overview – convince me that the Sphinx is not Hefren”.
Mother of fear
The Egyptian archeologist Rudvan Ash-Shamaa believes that the Sphinx has a female couple and it disappears under thickness of sand. A big Sphinx often call “The father of fear”. According to the archeologist if there is “A father of fear”, then there has to be also “Mother of fear”.
In the reasonings Ash-Shamaa leans on a mentality of ancient Egyptians who firmly followed the principle of symmetry. In his opinion, the lonely figure of the Sphinx looks very strange.
The surface of that place where according to the assumption of the scientist there has to be the second sculpture, towers over the Sphinx on several meters. “It is logical to assume that the statue is simply hidden from our eyes under thickness of sand”, – Ash-Shamaa is convinced.
In support of the theory the archeologist adduces several arguments. The Ash-Shamaa reminds that between forepaws of the Sphinx the granite stele on which two statues are represented is located; there is also calcareous plate in which it is said that in one of statues the lightning has struck and has destroyed it.
Secret room
In one of Ancient Egyptian treatises on behalf of the goddess Isida it is reported that god Tot placed “sacred books” which comprise “Osiris’s secrets” in the secret place, and then guided at this place charms that knowledge remained “unopened until the Sky doesn’t give rise to beings who will be worthy this gift”.
Some researchers are sure of existence of “the secret room” also today. They recall as Edgar Kasey foretold that once the room called “the Hall of Certificates” or “the Hall of Chronicles” will be found in Egypt under the right claw of the Sphinx. The information saved in “the secret room” will tell to mankind of the advanced civilization existing millions years ago.
In 1989 the group of the Japanese scientists by a radar method found the narrow tunnel leaving towards Hefren’s pyramid under the left claw of the Sphinx, and to the northwest of the Camera of the Queen the cavity was found the imposing sizes. However the Egyptian authorities didn’t allow to carry out more detail study of underground locations to Japanese.
Researches American Thomas Dobetski’s geophysics showed that under paws of the Sphinx there is a big rectangular camera. But in 1993 its operation was suddenly paused by local authorities. From now on the Egyptian government officially forbids to conduct geological or seismological researches around the Sphinx.
