A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Solomon Islands

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the island state of Solomon Islands, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was recorded at 03.51 UTC (06.51 Moscow time). The epicenter of aftershocks was located 50 kilometers south-west of the region of Chirovanga. The focus lies at a depth of 357 kilometers.

There were no reports of casualties or destruction. The threat of a tsunami was not announced.
