A new eruptive episode began on the Etna volcano

48 hours after the pause from the previous eruption, a new effusive eruptive phase began last night on the Etna volcano.

The tremor began to increase from 20:00 local time, a strong heat began to appear at the highest level of the gigantic vault after 22:00, when the new magma arrived close to the surface. The phase of weak explosions of the strombolian type followed from the hole. Starting at 22:27, the lava flows were already visible.

While two lava flows from the upper openings stopped during the night, one of the lower ventilation holes continued to move to the east and reached the Vallée del Bove slope around 4:00 (local time). In the morning, this lava flow was still active.
