An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and caused a tsunami, whose height was 30 centimeters, has not damaged New Zealand, the Ministry of civil defence and emergency situations of the country.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred off the coast of New Zealand on Friday morning local time. After that, the region was struck by a series of strong aftershocks. Authorities reported the tsunami threat and was issued a mandatory evacuation order in some areas.

According to the authorities, the height of tsunami waves that reached the shores of the country, was 30 inches.

We have not received any reports of casualties or damage, said the representative of the Ministry of Radio New Zealand.
