Forest fires in Portugal

Now more than 50 large fires of fire are raging on the Pirinay Peninsula. The maximum “red” level of danger has been declared in the central and northern parts of the country. 15 roads were blocked. The railway connection between Lisbon and Porto is interrupted.

Due to difficult conditions residents of dozens of settlements were evacuated. To fight fire, about four thousand rescuers are thrown, but their efforts are not enough. The Portuguese government has asked the European Commission to send fire brigades to the most dangerous areas. In the republic, three days of mourning for the victims of the disaster are declared.
