An earthquake with magnitude of 8.0 occurred on the territory of one of the Islands of the state of Papua New Guinea in the Pacific ocean, according to the US Geological survey (USGS).
The aftershocks recorded at 04.30 in UTC time (07.30 GMT), 36 kilometres North-West of the arava, which is the administrative center of the Autonomous region of Bougainville. The focus lies at a depth 167,5 kilometers. Information on casualties or damage were reported. The threat of a tsunami has not been announced.
