In raging Chile forest fire

Chilean authorities evacuated 160 women prisoners from the prison of Valparaiso, 127 km North of Santiago, due to the rapidly spreading forest fire.

The fire started in the hills surrounding the city of Valparaiso on January 11. Women’s prison located on the outskirts of the city, dangerously close to La Polvora, which is the epicenter of the fire.

To Valparaiso already introduced a state of emergency. In the city it is possible to evacuate heat and strong wind could lead to the rapid spread of fire to residential areas.
