More than 70,000 people were evacuated from the earthquake zone in the Chinese province of Sichuan

More than 70 thousand people affected by the powerful earthquake in Sichuan province in southwest China, were evacuated. This was reported today by the Ministry of Public Security of China.

Movement on the main roads linking the earthquake zone in Jiuzhaigou County with the city of Mianyang in Sichuan Province and the neighboring province of Guizhou, was restored, the ministry said.

The provincial police launched an emergency plan after the earthquake.

As of 13:00 this day, about 13 thousand vehicles and 71 thousand people were evacuated with the help of 3,675 policemen.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.0 occurred in Jiuzhaigou on August 8 at 21:19 at a depth of 20 km. At least 20 people were killed and another 431 injured, local authorities reported.
