Natural fires in Norway

Over a hundred natural fires were registered on Thursday in the southern part of Norway. Extinguishing fires is complicated due to extremely dry weather conditions and strong wind.

The state broadcaster NRK reported fires in the provinces of Agder, Telemark, Vestfold, Ostfold, Buskerud, Hedmark and Oppland. Some fires went out of control.

Most of the fires broke out due to lightning strikes. In extinguishing fires, the authorities plan to use helicopters as soon as thunderstorms recede.
