On the shores of Fiji there was an earthquake of magnitude 8.2

The US Geological Survey reported that on Sunday, August 19, in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Republic of Fiji. There was an earthquake of magnitude 8.2.


 
The epicenter of the seismic event was recorded 282 kilometers north-east of the town of Levuk on the island of Ovalau, its focus was at a depth of 560 kilometers.

Since the source of the earthquake was very deep beneath the surface of the seabed, there was no threat of a tsunami.
