One person was killed in the earthquake of magnitude 6.5 that occurred on Thursday off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The earthquake has injured 14 people, a few houses, including the school building, were destroyed.
The consequences of the earthquake felt most strongly by the residents of the County South Pesisir. Tremors were also felt in the neighboring province of Bengkulu.
“We received a report that 80-year-old man died after the earthquake”, — said the head of the Agency for the elimination of consequences of natural disasters of the province of West Sumatra.
The epicenter of the quake was located 91 kilometres to the West of the city of Agapenor. The earthquake lies at a depth of 50.8 km.
