The earthquake occurred in the most populated province of Colombia


The earthquake of a magnitude of 5.9 occurred in the most populous of Colombia’s province of Antioquia, according to the US Geological survey USGS.

The tremors were recorded at 01.58 UTC (04.58 GMT) 38 km to the North-East of the town of Mutata. The earthquake lies at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the newspaper Pais, the tremors were felt also in located 200 kilometers to the provincial capital of Medellin, and even in the Colombian capital Bogota, more than 600 kilometers.

Operational information from the authorities about possible damage to infrastructure or casualties have been reported yet.
