Record rainfall lasted only an hour brought down on Lausanne 50mm of precipitation, which is a record indicator. In just 10 minutes 41mm precipitation fell and this is the record for all time of meteorological observations in Switzerland.
Streams of water flooded streets, shops, underground passages, parking lots, railway tracks. Rescue services received thousands of calls asking for help. People were trapped in their cars in the midst of a raging water disaster.
