Unprecedented heat: +54 °C in Kuwait

Record heat covered Kuwait, Thursday, July 21, was registered by a new absolute maximum in the world for all history of meteorological observations.

At the meteorological station Mitzvah in Kuwait recorded a maximum of +54,0 °C, the minimum temperature for the day was +33 °C. the Previous world record belonged to the heat of Death Valley, USA, was recorded on 30 June 2013.

In the neighbouring city of Basra located in southern Iraq right on the border with Kuwait, also recorded record — the absolute maximum for all history of meteorological observations in the country. The minimum temperature yesterday was + 36 °C and maximum +53,4 °C.
