On November 29 the fourth power unit of tragicly known Chernobyl NPP was covered with a huge sarcophagus. As the place where on April 26, 1986 there was a fatal explosion looks, from height of bird’s flight — you look in the video.
The protective arch is higher the Statues of Liberty, height — 110 meters. Konfaynment weight is impressive too — 36 thousand tons that it is 3,5 times heavier than the Eiffel Tower. Arch length — 165 meters.
The sarcophagus guarantees 100 years of radiation safety. The Chernobyl NPP shall be taken out of service by 2064.
The construction of a konfaynment was conducted 10 years. The budget of the world’s largest mobile design constituted 1,417 billion euros. Constructions of an arch sponsored for 40 donor countries.
