In Iraqi Kurdistan under the earth live the blind fish

Scientists from the German Institute of freshwater ecology behalf of the Leibniz discovered in Iraqi Kurdistan a previously unknown species of blind fish. Unusual fish Eidinemacheilus proudlovei kind of Goltsov was first spotted in March of this year, they live in hard to reach underground streams.

Then after heavy rains in the spurs Zagrocki mountains locals found a new spring, which was discovered a strange fish that had never met before. Most of them were immediately eaten by birds. It is reported that the first who collected unusual fish, was a Kurdish biologist Korsh Ararat.

“Eidinemacheilus proudlovei has no eyes and scales, its skin has no pigment. Probably fish feed on the bacterial film on the walls of caves, but their biology is unknown,” — said the author George Freihof.
