Specialists of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor Zhukovsky develop the concept of a heavy transport aircraft of the integrated circuit. With this arrangement, is a combination of the functions of the wing and fuselage to ensure optimal use of the internal volume of the aircraft, as well as increasing aerodynamic efficiency.
Aircraft designed for Intercontinental transport large volume of cargo — up to 500 tonnes, including standard containers. Their accommodation is provided in compartments inside the wing loading hatches through the hinged front sections (socks) the Central part of the aircraft. The aircraft will be operated on the existing runways. A large part of the flight of such apparatus is at a height of 3-12 m from water, ice or land — these surfaces to create the ground effect, due to which there is a significant increase aerodynamic efficiency. This leads to a reduction in fuel consumption and a significant increase in range.
In the study, the concept model was established, which the Institute’s specialists experienced in the subsonic wind tunnel of TSAGI. The work was carried out to cruising and landing modes.
Modeling of the surface water, ice or land is made by using the screen, which is a plate with rounded edges. The experiment showed that the studied arrangement has a high aerodynamic perfection as close to this screen, and in his absence, and will allow the aircraft to make a sustained and controlled flight.
It is planned that the aircraft will fly on compressed natural gas. A cryogenic fuel has a higher energy efficiency and reduced harmful emissions compared to aviation kerosene.
