Solar wind lit beautiful auroras

The second day in a row, Earth is inside a stream of solar wind blowing from a large coronal hole in the solar atmosphere.

“1st of February, I drove from Fairbanks to photograph the Aurora over black spruce forest. First light in the sky was dim and it was very cold, so I sat in the car with the engine running to keep warm. Suddenly, the sky exploded in color! I jumped out to take photos, it seems that more has not been cold,” says Marshner.

More auroras are possible tonight when Earth will continue to move through the solar wind flow.
