NASA has published a video of a giant coronal hole in the Sun

NASA (NASA) released a video of a giant coronary holes on the Sun. Pictures were taken may 17-19 by the solar dynamics Observatory (Solar Dynamics Observatory), reports on the NASA website.

Coronal hole – a region in the solar corona, where the density and temperature of plasma is lower in comparison with other districts about a hundred times. Coronal holes appear during the minimum of solar activity.

The plasma that is released during the formation of the hole becomes part of the solar wind, which causes magnetic storms and Northern lights. Coronal holes can significantly affect space weather and the ionosphere and the Earth’s magnetic field.

Fixed holes in the ultraviolet spectrum, which is indistinguishable to the human eye. However, for clarity, obtained by the solar dynamics Observatory “illuminated” purple, according to NASA.
