Nili hills on Mars

The spacecrafts working at an orbit around Mars have taken pictures of the most ancient hills on the surface of the Red planet.
It is about the ancient Martian region known under the name “Colles Nili”. Colles is translated from Latin as “hills”. Hills of “Colles Niki” are remarkable not only the ancient age, but also the considerable height, and also the fact that around them traces of ancient glaciers have remained.

The picture of this area has been taken on May 29, 2016 by the European spacecraft of Mars-Express.

In the field of “Colles Nili” shock craters of the different sizes and traces of river channels in which liquid water once proceeded are also clearly visible.
