A mysterious disease killed a girl in Nigeria. More than 30 people were hospitalized

A sudden outbreak of a mysterious disease has spread to a girls’ boarding school in Nigeria. One student died and about 30 of her classmates fell ill.

Officials have not provided any details yet.

More than 30 female students from the State Women’s College in Sokoto have been hospitalized with an unknown illness, according to Futurism. Initially, health officials thought the girls had meningitis, but later the version was ruled out. The investigation is currently ongoing, and its details have not yet been disclosed.

The hospitalized students have already been discharged from the hospital. Unfortunately, one of them did not have time to receive proper assistance, and she died before reaching the clinic.

The local government intends to keep nine health workers at the school to monitor the situation and, in the event of new outbreaks, provide emergency assistance.

According to the New York Post, about 200 people were hospitalized in eight cities in Nigeria last week for consuming expired fruit drinks. Three people were killed.

Officials have not said whether there is a link between the two events.
