A two-headed calf was born in southern India

A calf with two heads, four eyes and two mouths has become a local landmark in Gangaikondan, in southern India.

The video shows curious onlookers lining up to see the newborn creature lying in a barn with its mother.

A woman is seen feeding the calf from a bottle, while another holds its head so it can drink milk.

The farmer, whose name is Murugan, has to bottle-feed the newborn calf because his two heads are too heavy for him and he cannot suckle milk from his mother.

Nevertheless, mother cows can be seen sticking close to the calf and licking it, and families come to watch the spectacle.

Local veterinarians are involved in caring for the calf, but they believe the chances of its survival are very slim.
