In kazanskom district, one of the fishermen made a hole in the ice of lake Baikal and held a burning match, at once kindled a flame, the height of which reached more than a meter. The burning lasted for several minutes.
Strange flash over the lake, has long observed the residents located near the lake villages in pricelevel part of the Selenga. Scientific studies have shown that under the lake there are accumulations of hydrocarbons including gas, oil, gas hydrates and bitumen.
