67000 antique maps in high resolution

A collection of cartographer David Ramsey (David Rumsey) has over 150,000 rare cards XVI — XXI centuries. It includes wall, pocket, handwriting, children’s, nautical charts, atlases and other cartographic materials.

Digitization of the collection began in 1996, and today in the open access on the website there are more than 67000 maps in high resolution. The most ancient exhibits are dated by the year 1550, the collection is replenished every day.

On the website of the David Rumsey Map Collection has a special application, through which you can overlay an old map on modern and to look at how changing the names of cities, streets and other objects.
