A huge iceberg broke away from the Gray Glacier in Chile

A huge iceberg broke away from the Gray Glacier in Chile. Its dimensions are 350 by 380 meters. This was reported by the Chilean authorities. The reason for what happened is unclear. Employees of the Torres del Paine National Park say: this happens here rarely. The last time the iceberg broke away from the glacier in the early 90’s.

The Gray Glacier is located in the northern part of the lake. Its width is six kilometers, its length is 28, and the area is 270 square kilometers. The height of the ice massif is 30 meters. The glacier is part of the Southern Patagonian glacial plateau. It is a mountain-cover glacial complex in the Patagonian Cordillera, which lies on the territories of Argentina and Chile.
