A powerful earthquake hits Mexico

The National Seismological Survey reports that a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the city of Acapulco, located in the southwestern state of Guerrero on the country’s Pacific coast, on Tuesday evening September 7 local time.

The focus of the seismic event lay at a depth of 10 kilometers, its epicenter was 14 kilometers from Acapulco, TASS reports.

In the capital of Mexico, a strong earthquake warning system was triggered. Information about the destruction and casualties has not yet been reported.
