A powerful wind hits southern New England

Wind and heavy thunderstorms were part of a rare weather event, Derecho, which was recorded in southern New England and caused extensive wind damage throughout the area.

Derekho is a hurricane wind covering a large area over 400 km and having a speed of up to 100 km / h in and above.

Such phenomena are quite rare, not only in southern New England, but in the northeast as a whole. Over the past 25 years, Derecho have made only three trips to Southern New England.
