A terrible sandstorm swapped day for night and turned the sky blood-red in Algeria

A severe and widespread dust storm has engulfed the provinces of Medea and Tissemsilt, Algeria. Some areas were forced to turn on their street lights in the middle of the day as the dust partially obscured the sun, turning the sky orange-red.

In the evening hours, the red color intensified further, turning the sky in Xar Bouhari, Medea, blood-red.

As you can see in the video below, the sandstorm was accompanied by very strong winds that almost reduced visibility to zero.
