American meteorologists warn of intensifying storm “Nicholas”

Formed in the Gulf of Mexico, tropical storm Nicholas has intensified to a Category I hurricane and is approaching the US state of Texas, according to the US National Hurricane Watch Center (NHC).

Nicholas became a hurricane. It carries heavy rains, high winds and storm surges in the central and upper Texas coastlines, “NHC said on Twitter.

It is noted that the disaster may affect in the coming days and parts of the state of Louisiana.

According to forecasters, the maximum wind speed reaches 120 kilometers per hour. The hurricane moves at a speed of 16 kilometers per hour.

A tropical storm is named when the accompanying wind reaches 62 kilometers per hour. A storm becomes a hurricane when the wind speed exceeds 119 kilometers per hour.
