Bali was hit by “King tides”

On the Indonesian island of Bali observed a very strong tide called “King tides”. This phenomenon causes big waves and extremely high levels of water in the ocean.

Two tourists from Hong Kong and Singapore died June 9 after a huge wave dragged them into the ocean. The incident occurred at the popular surfing beach of Padang galak is located in Sanur village in the South of Bali. High waves also destroyed a local restaurant.

Tidal waves should not be confused with a tsunami. But the combination of strong high waves generated by strong cyclone, located in the middle latitudes over the ocean South of Western Australia and high tide caused the difficult conditions.
