Epidemic of the plague in Madagascar

Since September of this year there have been about 144 cases of plague; most affected are the cities of Antananarivo, Tuamasina; It is recommended to observe personal hygiene standards and avoid places of mass gathering.

Earlier, the official representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Christian Lindmaer reported that more than half of the reported cases of plague in Madagascar are the most serious form of the disease – pneumonic plague.

According to him, unlike previous outbreaks, it affects a large territory, including large and port cities, and the further risk of spreading the disease at the national level is very high. According to WHO, 24 people died from the plague in Madagascar.
