Floods displace 120,000 people in Chad

According to a report by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in August 2020, flooding in Chad in north-central Africa displaced nearly 120,000 people.

At least 32,000 of these displaced persons are in N’Djamena, the capital of the country, where 10 people were killed by flooding on 20 August.

“The flooding has exacerbated an already difficult situation for many of the most vulnerable people who are now seeking refuge in local school buildings, having lost not only their homes but also their livelihoods,” explained Anne Schaefer, IOM Mission Chief in Chad. …

Since early August, flooding has also affected parts of the Lak region, displacing thousands of residents in Kai and Fuli.
