The area of ​​fire exceeds 48 thousand acres (19.5 thousand hectares), while only 5% are located. 38 thousand inhabitants of the surrounding settlements were evacuated. President of the United States Donald Trump in connection with forest fires announced an emergency situation in the state of California.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center of the United States (NIFC), 89 forest fires are raging in 13 states in the country, most of the fires are in the north-west of the country and in the state of Alaska. According to the NIFC, the area of ​​forest fires in the United States in 2018 is already 16.7 thousand square kilometers, the number of fires since the beginning of the year exceeded 36 thousand.
