Forty-nine whales washed ashore in Northland, New Zealand


Thirty-three stranded whales have died after 49 whales washed ashore at Parengarenga Harbor in the Far North.

Department of Conservation (DOC) officials reported that 33 of the whales died and the rest were towed into the water. However, the whales returned to the harbor and 12 of them bled to death after being attacked by sharks.
