Giant landslide destroyed an important road in Peru

A giant landslide destroyed more than one kilometer of the PE-14 A national road in the Ponto area (Pomachaca-Yungilla section), Huari province (Ancash)

The landslide caused massive power outages in Huacachi, Anra, Uko, Rapayan, Paukas and Ouakchis counties in Huari province, as well as in the border provinces.

According to the Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER) Áncash, the village of Kulluchak must be urgently evacuated as it could also be destroyed by a landslide.

Meanwhile, the slopes are still mobile and very unstable. Repairs will only be possible when the risk of collapse is reduced.
