Heavy rains cause flooding in Canada

Heavy rains have hit the province of Ontario, flooding roads and endangering homes.

A special meteorological statement issued by Environment Canada said that up to 75 millimetres of rain would fall in parts of Toronto. The city did get its share of rainfall.

On Thursday morning, the ramp for westbound Highway 401 to Highway 410 was flooded.

Vaughan city officials announced that the Palladini Community Centre would be closed due to severe flooding.

Floods have come dangerously close to homes.

In one house, the water level reached almost a meter.

There have been reports of power outages.

Roads in the London area, including Thames Valley Parkway, were under water last night.
