Heavy rains trigger flash floods in Singapore

The Singapore National Agency reported flash floods in city areas following heavy rains on April 17, 2021.

In western Singapore, 161.4 mm of water was recorded from 12.25 to 15.15. This corresponds to 91% of Singapore’s monthly average rainfall in April and is one of the highest in 40 years.

Rapid response teams were immediately dispatched to the above locations to assist drivers and pedestrians.

The water level in several drains and canals has exceeded 90%. EMERCOM has issued flood risk warnings in more than 20 locations, including the Sime Darby Center, Bukit Timah Canal (Leng Kwang Baptist Church), Ulu Pandan Canal and Sungei Pandan Kecil (NUS and AYE).
