Huge hail fell near Appleton as severe thunderstorms hit Wisconsin.
Russ Smith told the Wisconsin State Journal newspaper that he was working at a construction site a couple of miles north of Appleton when hail the size of softballs and baseballs fell for “a full two minutes.”
“It was amazing to watch it fall from the sky,” Smith said. “Words can’t describe what it looked like.”
Baseball-sized hail fell in parts of Brown, Outagamie and Waupaca counties.
A line of severe storms also brought heavy rain and wind to eastern Wisconsin, and heavy rain, wind and small hail to south-central Wisconsin.
