Kamchatka is the most earthquake-prone region of Russia, said the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Fedotov during a meeting of the expert Council of the Ministry.
“This area of the country is the most dangerous place for natural disasters that are possible in our country… the Kuril-Kamchatka arc is one of the most seismically active places on the planet, the seismic zone of Russia”,- he said.
He also noted that in the next five years the probability of earthquake in the area of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky 7-9 points is around 45%. In addition, he noted that the damage from possible earthquakes “is possible too big.”
