A resident of Georgia, Lisa Ormundt, discovered a giant beehive. An unusual finding was made by the local beekeeper Bobby Chaison, who visited the woman to find out the reason for the “constant buzz” in the attic. With the help of a thermal imager, he located the hive, but the scale of the bee’s dwelling surprised not only the hostess, but also the invited specialist.
About 120 thousand insects were hidden behind the ceiling slabs. For six hours, Chaison moved insects into plastic containers with a special vacuum pump.
The weight of the honeycombs found in the attic was 55 kilograms. The beekeeper believes that from them it will be possible to extract up to 30 kilograms of pure honey.
