Increased activity of the volcano Kerintji in Indonesia

In the last 3 days on Indonesian volcano Kerintji significantly increased eruptive activity. According to the official report of the Indonesian Agency for disaster prevention, from the crater tops out thick ash column that rose to a height of 800-1000 meters.

The alarm status Kerintji is located on the 3 rd level on a 4-point scale. Ash emissions occur 1-2 times per day and are accompanied by thick, yellowish smoke, which dissipates in the surrounding area to the East. Many residents living around the volcano, complain of cough and breathing problems.

The Agency’s specialists urge people and climbers to stay away from “red zones” Kerintji, which is limited to a radius of 3 km.
