Torrential rains on April 13, 2020 caused widespread and severe flooding in Sana’a, Yemen, resulting in at least two deaths and extensive damage to property. On April 14, the roads remained flooded.
A flash flood in the Al-Sabin area claimed the lives of two people after being washed away by the stormy waters. At least one house collapsed, while dozens of others were damaged, prompting residents to evacuate.
Cars were also washed away as the streets turned into dirty rivers. Videos posted by locals on social media show severe flooding.
“The floods in Sana’a, Yemen, have become very dangerous and deadly. Please, dear brothers, take care of yourself, as you are trying to help save lives,” said one resident of the city.
