The last image of the active lava flow in the coastal plain shows that the lava is only about 870 m from the shore. Much of the activity of Kilauea volcano in the past days was the main and expanded field of lava flow.
If the supply of fresh lava through the main pipe in the coastal plain continues, the lava eventually reaches the sea and the volcano can form new land. This is likely to occur in the short or medium term (from several days to several weeks).
