Lightning killed 2 fishermen and injured 10 more in Chhattisgarh, India

Police said two fishermen were killed and 10 more injured after being struck by lightning while fishing in a reservoir in the Chhattisgarhs Rajnandgaon area.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 pm near the Chichola police station area, where 19 fishermen from two Chuirya villages went to the Lal Mati reservoir, said Ajaykant Tiwari, a site officer at the Chichola police station.

According to him, because of the torrential rains, they ended up in temporary camps built on the banks of the reservoir, where lightning struck.

According to him, while two of them, identified as Rohit Nishad (50 years old) and Bharoza Nishad (55 years old), died on the spot, 10 others received minor burns as a result of the incident.

According to the official, a group of police arrived at the scene and took the injured to a local medical center for treatment, and the bodies of the dead were sent for autopsy.

According to him, a case has been registered in this regard, and the relatives of the two victims will be compensated in accordance with the rules.

Another official said that 39 cattle were killed by lightning in the village of Bamnibhata in Rajnandgaon on Tuesday afternoon.

In addition, 19 head of cattle were killed in a similar incident in the Kasrenga village of the Corbin region, officials said.
