Four, including two teenagers, died as a result of a lightning strike in the Nirmal, Kamareddi and Jayashankar Bhupalpalli areas.
In the Jayashankar district of Bhupalpalli, lightning claimed the lives of two bison ranchers in Jilukalagutta near the village of Garmillapalli. The dead were Salupala Komuraia (45) and Merugu Naresh (17) from the same village. In addition, 35 buffaloes were killed in the incident. Komuraia is survived by a wife and three sons.
On another occasion, 43-year-old shepherd Kamentla Bhojanna was under a tree in his agricultural field when lightning struck. Other farmers noticed his body and warned his family. He is survived by a wife and two sons.
A 13-year-old boy died in Kamareddi and his brother was burned in the village of Adivi Lingala in Yellareddi Mandal. Brothers Suman (18 years old) and Vinay (13 years old) were working in the fields when it rained heavily. They took refuge under a tree and there they were struck by lightning. They were rushed to the Yellareddi government hospital, but Vinay died. Suman’s condition is critical.
Meanwhile, nine goats were also killed by a lightning strike in the village of Yogitanagar Venkatapuram Mandal in the Mulugu area.
