Lightning strikes kill two miners in Zimbabwe

The lives of two miners were cut short tragically after they were struck by lightning at a mine on the outskirts of town. They were sheltering under a tree during the storm.

They were identified as Malvin Ncube and Prince Ncube, both 18, who were working at the Tula 3 mine in Nkenyane Township near Bulawayo.

“Police arrived on the scene where the two young men were found dead under a tree. There is reason to believe they were struck by lightning,” said Bulawayo police spokesman Abedniko Ncube.

“We urge the public to observe safety precautions and never seek shelter under trees when it is raining.”
