Due to the increased activity of the Lokon volcano, located in the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi, local authorities prohibited residents and tourists from being within a 1.5 km radius of the mountain.
Since Thursday, in the area of the volcano, there has been increased seismic activity. Experts note that the tremors may indicate the approach of the eruption, although, when this can happen, it is impossible to predict. The authorities announced the second level of warning about the danger.
The Center for Volcanology and Mitigation of Geological Dangers (PVMBG) recorded five minor earthquakes since Thursday.
