More than 320 buildings destroyed by lava on the island of La Palma, Canary Islands

Lava flows continue to move slowly toward the coast after another night of intense lava fountains at Cumbre Vieja volcano, La Palma, Canary Islands.

The volcanic plume is estimated to be 4.2 km (13,800 ft) high above the volcano.

As of September 23, more than 320 buildings had been destroyed by the lava and more than 6,000 people had been evacuated.

“This volcanic eruption is not a show, not a movie, not an attraction. We need help,” says Teresa, a San Nicolas resident.
