Rains flooded New South Wales in Australia

Residents found themselves on the rooftops of their homes on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales after more than 500 millimeters of rain fell in some areas.

At around 2 am, the Government Emergency Service received calls, mostly from Corindi, 36 kilometers north of Coffs Harbor.

“The rainfall is incredible, and this whole Corindi flood zone quickly rose and caught a lot of people off guard at this morning hour,” said Martin Wells, deputy commander of the SES unit Coffs Harbor.

“We had families sitting on rooftops in Korindi waiting for help and getting to everyone was a real challenge.”
